American version of "bread and circuses".

Now that the July 4th hoopla has quieted, two questions should be asked of the American public.

First: Who was the winner of the most recent America’s Got Talent show?

Second: How many countries is the US currently bombing?

Most Americans can readily answer the first question, but I suspect few can answer the second. Why?

The Roman government distracted its citizens with “bread and circuses”; we have our own version of “bread and circuses”.

Jefferson said: “Information is the currency of Democracy”.
If he was correct, we are bankrupt.
